The Bye-Laws are almost passed; they will come into operation directly after Harvest.
The order has not yet been issued which will make Morestead a contributory district to Owslebury; plans however have been prepared for he enlargement of the School in order to avoid delay when the time comes.
The Club Day was Thursday, July 17th. The Club went to Church, and heard an excellent sermon from the Rector of Chilcomb, and then dined on the Recreation Ground in a booth, about 35 sat down to dinner; and about 100 more came to tea. Sports were contested afterwards, with the following results: -
I. - Throwing the cricket ball
(a) C.Glasspool, jun. 1 ; T. Glasspool, 2; eleven entered.
(b) Joseph Froud; ten entered.
II. - 100 yards
(a) T. Glasspool, 1 ; G. Winkworth, 2 ; seven ran.
(b) J.Froud, 1 ;two ran.
(c) W. Winkworth, 1 ; W. Morant, 2 ; eight ran.
III.- Stone picking, in heats of three each -
1st heat, C.Glasspool, 1; R Bunney, 2 .
2 heat, T.Glasspool, 1 ; C.Pearce, 2 ;
3rd heat, Henry Tribbeck, 1 ; EU Glasspool, 2 .
4th heat, W.Morant, 1; W.Winkworth, 2 .
No final heats.
IV. - Sack race -
Eli Glasspool, 1 ; Tom Glasspool, 2 ; six started.
There was also a stone picking contest for women; and a race, in which each woman carried an egg in a spoon. There was some dancing on the ground; and though the rain threatened a little none fell to hurt us.
