To: All Owslebury residents
It has been reported to police that car tyres in Owslebury are being deliberately punctured – usually by using a sharp pointed or bladed implement to puncture side walls.
Seven such incidents have been reported to police over the last two years – all in the Beech Grove area.
The latest incident was during the night of Friday 22nd January 2010, when the rear off-side tyre of a Renault car parked on the road in Beech Grove was deliberately punctured.
From speaking with local people, it seems likely there have been other similar incidents which have not been reported to police.
Quite apart from the criminal offence of causing damage, puncturing tyres can lead to injury or even death – because owners may not be aware they have a slow puncture until driving, and so potentially face unexpected loss of control.
Police treat these incidents seriously, and are asking the public for help.
