Burn’s Night in Owslebury –
January 21
Owslebury is fortunate to have Elvis McGonagall – One Man and his Doggerel at the Burns Night Supper on Saturday, January 21 in The Parish Hall at 7.00 for 7.30 pm.
Elvis is a stand-up poet, armchair revolutionary, and recumbent rocker. He is the sole resident of The Graceland Caravan Park somewhere in the middle of nowhere where he scribbles verse whilst drinking scotch, listening to Johnny Cash, and throwing heavy objects at his portable telly.
Boredom, desperation, and the fear of putting on a bright orange apron and working in B & Q have driven this bitter and twisted entertainer into the twilight world of performance poetry.
Elvis is the 2006 World Slam Champion, compere of the notorious Blue Suede Sporran Club, and appears regularly on BBC Radio 4’s “Saturday Live” and occasionally on “The Today Programme”. He has appeared on BBC 1’s “The One Show” where his jacket clashed with the lime green sofa.
Tickets £12.50 (£10 for 12-17 year olds) including food from 01962 - 777 001, 777 339, or 777 016.
Please state whether you would like haggis or sausages and mash.
This event has been made possible with help from Hog the Limelight, a department of Hampshire County Council.
