Book Clubs
For those of you who enjoy reading books, as far as I know there are two reading groups in the village running at the moment. The second one started in February this year. We have enjoyed a diverse range of books, chosen by members, from Simon Armitage's modern version of Homer's Odyssey to Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, via The Rose of Sebastopol and The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox and others. We meet informally at members' homes, every 4 - 5 weeks. I believe both groups are pretty full at the moment, but there may be some of you wishing to start a new group. Telephone me, Louise Westbury (777798) for more information.
Book Swaps
We have recently set up a book-shelf in the entrance of the village hall for good quality paperbacks. The idea is for people of the village to bring a book and take a book to read. There is no charge involved, it is just to encourage us to read. Some of the books that have been read by the book club members could be circulated in this way, but please, if you live in the village and there is a book on the shelf you would like to read please help yourself and if you have a good book that you no longer wish to keep, please leave it on the shelf for others to enjoy. We hope you will support this initiative. Contact Cathy Fox (777545) for more information.
