Winchester City Counsel launches Blueprint - Your chance to Shape Your Community for the Future

group of peopleWinchester City Council is seeking the views of residents living in the Parish of Owslebury to contribute to new planning policy.

All villages in the Winchester District are being asked, but what is important for us is your views for Owslebury.

What will residents in our Parish need over the next 20 years – housing for the elderly, for the young, for families’ etc?

Small housing, large housing, is there sufficient or will we need more?

Do you wish to see housing growth or housing numbers restricted?

Where in the parish would housing development or in-fill be welcomed and where should it be refused? What should the criteria be for a new home in countryside within the South Downs National Park? Your views will count.

What else will be important to residents of the future? If a farm building becomes redundant what new uses are acceptable? Should farm buildings be restricted to agricultural / horticultural / equestrian use and young people encouraged to take up this area of work?

Should the site be used for a small industrial estate or storage? Should the site be used for small housing development? What are your views?

What about affects on the countryside, the lanes, trees, fields? What should be protected, what isn’t so important? What infrastructure is required – a craft centre, village shops, pubs, churches, schools, medical facilities, sports facilities – what needs to be expanded within the Parish?

What don’t we need because residents will be able to access them in neighbouring villages or towns? What will be important to the residents of the future?

The Parish Council is coordinating parishioner views for WCC by 10th December.

You can contribute as an individual or a small group e.g. from the local school, club, society, church, small community within the parish etc. You can write to or e-mail the Parish Clerk your views. You can write to or e-mail WCC direct.

The Parish Council can arrange a Saturday morning workshop to support discussion and coordinate views - please let me know if you would welcome this.

But most importantly, not for us but for residents over the next 20 years, please make your views count. We look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you.

Liz Manship, Clerk to Owslebury Parish Council. The Old Shop, Main Road, Owslebury. SO21 1LU
